It’s high enough even for me to reach those keys (I’m around 180cm tall)
Probably related to some sort of unhealthy craze about basketball culture. They mimic dunking on everything that’re hung high
Too high or too short? please provide clarification
It’s short enough for most tall people to reach it.
I agree and I could reach the switches easily
At an animal hospital, right outside their left entrance is a Silent Knight annunciatior of what appears that it’s LCD display is failing and won’t show up correctly, no surprise since it’s a really old building that still has the original SpectrAlert Classics and BG-8 pulls.
On a more serious yet not fire alarm related fail is an outlet close to it but underneath with it’s wires on the GFCI sticking out without a cover plate.
R.I.P. SK Annunicator
The EST Genesis could be a strobe only, as they used the same housing for the strobes and horn strobes. if you look in there, you may be able to see a horn, if not, it is just a strobe. The Gentex alarm, however must be very loud in that bathroom
That EST Genesis looks like it could be time to replace it as well.
An apartment building near my house has pull stations mounted along the exterior fire escapes, and I’ve always been baffled by this installation. I’m not sure of the purpose of the pull station shown below, as it looks too high to be reached from the stairway.
The pull stations on this building were previously Mircom MS-401s (which, as far as I’m aware, aren’t listed for outdoor use—especially not without a protective cover). The current pull stations are weatherproof RSG T-bars.
Photo is from Google Street View.
Very interesting indeed. How does one pull it? If you can’t, why are they there?
I also wonder how they managed to get it installed there in the first place
Double Feature!!
This EST2 is blocked by an ATM and sunglasses:
This Fire-Lite communicator panel is unused, turned off and dead, blocked by an ATM and a Western Union display, and unlocked:
Both are at the Riverside ACME!!
How would they be that careless about their system? Although it looks like there might be a bit of space to reach the EST 2 panel
“The Soundless Alarm”
Spotted at a random office building. The protective cover on a Leader LED sounder strobe was not removed after installation.
Now that is a dumb but funny fire alarm fail
How did that strobe cook up the inside?
Dear Albertsons and ACME, please stop obstructing your fire alarm panels with displays! The same fail was seen at another ACME in Greenwich, just down the road in Riverside!
Photo taken at Greenwich ACME (see my post in “Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)” for context):
Oh, and, there is an EST Integrity improperly mounted on the ceiling! Albertsons, please take care of your fire alarm systems:
(Also taken at Greenwich ACME)
P.S. The key was also placed inside the keyhole of the MS-5012 and someone could easily unlock and tamper with the panel!
