Make Up a System (2.0)

Park Place Center. 2035

Original system---------------------------

The complex at the time was called “Park Place Mall” (Which actually exists by the way.)

The Complex consisted of many different alarms, Including the following.

Century Theaters.

Panel: Simplex 4100 U

N/A’s: Simplex 4903-9246, Simplex 4906-9127 (Or something like that)

Pull stations: Standard T-Bar for a new install.

Main Complex.

Pull stations: Standard T-Bar for a new install.

Dillard’s.

Not sure about the panel but the Pulls are BG-10s and the NA’s are Wheelock AS’es

Not Much FA information on The former Macys and Round One buildings.

New Complex--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Background Information,

Where Dillards and Macy’s were is replaced with 2 Skyscraper’s.

The Dillards site is Park Place Center 1, A 1234 Foot and 101 Floor Supertall tower. The Macy’s site is Park Place Center 2, A 800 Foot and 53 Floor tower. The Cinemark theatres is now Park Place Center 4, A 40 Floor tower. The Round One building is now Park Place Center 5, the rest of the mall is now Park Place Center 3. Park Place Center 6 is a 10 Story Parking garage built on top of the overflow parking lot. These 6 Buildings are interconnected with 5 sublevels, One being a concourse.

System-------------------------

To ensure that the complex does not catch fire, Simplex 4100 ES’es are present in Tower’s One, Two and Four. Since Tower 1 has a Hotel at the 80th floor, a Simplex 4007ES will control that portion of the tower. All buildings in the complex are equipped with Sprinklers and Clean Agent suppression. To control the Clean Agent system, Simplex 4004R will be present in every other floor in Tower 1,2 and 4. Building 6 will have one 4004R on the floor’s B5, G, 6, 11. Building 3, 5 and the Sublevels will have Multiple 4004R’s zoned accordingly. The Fire Command Station on B3 Will have a Simplex TrueSite Incident Commander Monitoring the entire complex. The Fire Command Station will also house the 4100 ES for building three. The pull stations and NA’s will be whatever Simplex can offer in the 2030’s.

There will be a Life Safety Response team at the complex, similar to the World Trade Center.

That’s all I have to say for now.

Johnson Park Shopping Mall
Built in 1856 as Johnson Park Shopping Center, the fire alarm system was originally an unknown pull-rod fire alarm system with mechanical horns and incandescent lights as visual signals, the horns were set to code-4 4 4 4 which would continue until the system was reset from the old panel, located in the back areas of the mall, there was no sprinkler system. In 1867, the mall was partially destroyed by a major fire and Grinnell installed an automatic sprinkler system which would prevent any more major fires from happening. In 1875, the mall was renamed to Johnson Park Shopping Mall, at the same time a new fire alarm panel was installed to control the pull-rod fire alarm system. In 1975, the pull-rod fire alarm system was decommissioned and partially removed, although some remnants remained such as the panel guts which were left on a shelf in the back area where the panel was located, the mall also lost all but one of its original stores when JP McCarr Department Stores closed down, some of the mechanical horns, incandescent lights and pull-rods also remained intact although most of them were removed and most of the horns and lights were sold to a vintage fire alarms collector, the new fire alarm system was a Simplex panel from the 1970s with Wheelock 7002s set to continous as the main shopping mall fire alarm notification appliances, the Sears had a 70s Simplex panel with T-bar pull stations and Simplex whiffle-ball smoke detectors, the main mall had T-bar pull stations and Simplex whiffle-ball smoke detectors, in 1995, the panel died and was replaced with a 1990s Fire-Lite panel, the devices remained the same. In 2001, the mall received a major update, all pull stations are replaced with Simplex T-bars and Wheelock horn-strobes set to code 3, the smoke detectors are left as they are still working correctly. The JCPenney has a Simplex 4100 panel with similar devices as the main shopping mall, the mall also got a new clock installed.

Here’s mine:
Imagine an Industrial building has some rare and wacky fire alarms. The panel is a ADT Unimode 5. Pull stations: 9x ADT B5009, 4x Aames SP1 (All Pull Stations have Explosion-Proof Cages) Alarms and Strobes: 5x Faraday 6180, 3x Honeywell SC806A1004, 6x Notifier NWS-24, 2x Wheelock 7002T-24 (General Version), and 15x ADT ADT-PS.

The Smithfield inn was built in 1997 and is three story’s tall . In each room there is a system sensor pa4004-f mini horn . In the hallways there are system sensor mass’s and notifier sdx-551 smoke detectors. The pull stations are notifier bgx-101l’s , the duct detectors are notifier Dhx-502’s , the heat detectors are notifier fdx-551’s and the panel is a notifier afp-400. One day in 2006 a sprinkler pipe broke on the top floor and flooded the carpet and got the walls and ceiling wet. The hotel thought that it would look weird if the hallway was remodeled but the rooms were the same, so the hotel hired a contractor to gut the top floor down to the studs and rebuilt it, the old fire alarms and smoke detectors were replaced during the construction. The new devices are notifier fsp-851’s , nbg-12lx’s , spectralert classic’s and system sensor pa400r,s

I’m guessing this is where you make up a system, not list specs of an existing system.

A bit late to the party but here’s my take on it. Now I’ll do something a bit different, as the following system was a real system in a real building, however I don’t know when most of the modifications were made, or why they were made, so I’ll use my own discretion on the circumstances.

The school was built in 1988 with a Simplex 4002 panel, Simplex 2601-8005 indicator annunciator, Simplex 2901-9838 horns on Simplex 2903-9001 light plates, Simplex 4251-20 pull stations, Simplex 2098-9636 smokes, and a Simplex 2098-9648 duct detector.

1995 - A 2901-9838 horn fails prematurely in the unified arts wing and is replaced with a new old stock 2901-9833 horn.

1998 - A 2098-9636 smoke fails prematurely by the 1st floor elevator and the head is replaced with a 2098-9201 smoke.

2001 - A 4251-20 pull station in the 1st floor north stairwell is removed and blanked over due to kids pulling it while waiting for recess to be let out.

2003 - A 4251-20 is smashed in the gym and replaced by a 2099-9754 pull.

2006 - A 2901-9838 horn fails in the gym and is replaced by a 4903-9425.

2007 - A 2901-9838 on the exterior of the building dies and is replaced with a Spectralert Advance.

2009 - The original 4002 was fried due to a power surge and was replaced with the 4005 retrofit kit. A System Sensor I3 was also installed in the main office shortly after.

2022 - The entire system was replaced except the 2098-9648 duct detector. The new panel is a Fire Lite ES-200X, with System Sensor L series horn/strobes, Fire Lite BG-12LX pulls, Fire Lite SD365 smokes.

Feather Hills apartments

Feather Hills apartment is a apartment complex that was formerly a hotel called Silver Hills Hotel. It’s located in the town of Silver Hill which is a very popular tourist destination due to the many lakes, trails and it hosts many events such as the Silver Hills parade and the Silver Hills car show.

Silver Hills hotel was built in 1995 with 2 buildings and a parking garage. The Hotel did very well. The Hotel got some new owners in 2009 and the service was worse and building was neglected. Due to how bad the hotel was mismanaged, the Hotel closed it’s doors in 2013. The Hotel was sold by developers that decided to make the place a apartment complex. The place was repaired and even remodeled in a few places but those were Minor. These apartments has been very successful. A 3rd and 4th building is being planned to be built and are projected to open in Fall of 2025.

The system is service by Simplex and still is by today. This complex is serviced by a small Simplex 4120 Network of 3 panels, 2 Simplex 4020s and a Simplex 4100ES that replaced a Simplex 4020.

The Simplex 4020 started out reliable but it started to have issues in late 2013. In late 2013 the panel started to bug out and set it self off at random times. The owners at the time were going to replace the entire system. There were plans to replace the system with a FireLite MS-9600UDLS but that never happened since the Hotel went out of business. The developers took note of the 4020 and got it to be replaced with a 4100ES with the devices from the 4020 remaining. The system run normally with the occasional false alarm.

This system was notable for being filmed and uploaded to a video sharing site. It was a bell test of the system. The basement and Building 2 were filmed as well. This was filmed back in 2001 and uploaded in 2006. The inspector revisited this building back in 2015 when the 4100ES was installed and revisited in 2023.

The first video in 2001 was pretty poor quality but it showed the first story of the building.

The 2015 version showed the 5th floor

The 2023 version showed the 1st floor and 2nd floor.

This building was also filmed by a visitor of the hotel in 2013 when the system false alarmed 4 times.

These systems are plain to say with the exception of the garage due to a expansion. The Simplex 4020 is planning to be replaced there soon. It’s unknown if the 9215s are going to be staying. But the owners of the property have thought about replacing both 4020s with Simplex 4100ES and upgrade the 4120 network to ES net.

Sharver Art Museum and Sharver Academy of Arts

Sharver Art Museum is an Art Museum that opened up in 1988 after another Art Museum went out of business due to a fire. This is located in the Peter District of Sharver which is very close to downtown. The building was originally built in 1926 as Sharver Catholic School but that school closed in 1973 due to low enrollment. The place sat abandoned for 15 years. The building was renovated to fit the new Art Museum. The interior of the building is completely different from when the school was built. The place had a massive expansion in 2014 tripling the size of the building. This building also has some store fronts built which the tenants would be 7-11, Shake Shack, and a local pizza shop. The museum was expanded again in 2018

System #1: (1926-1955)

This system was manual pull rod with bells. It was installed by a local company called StarCall which was head quartered in Sharver. The company went out of business in 1972. The company was reorganized and it’s now a regular fire alarm company that installs everything Honeywell.(FireLite,Notifier,Silent Knight, Fahrenhyt, and Gamewell FCI).

The model of the bells are 22006 bells which are completely manual.

The pull rods never had a model number.

This system got upgraded in 1955.

The system was completely removed during the renovation in the 80s which caused the system to get removed. Someone kept on to the system. A demo board was made due to StarCall systems starting to become increasingly rare overtime due to the company being defunct and parts becoming very hard to find. The person thought it would be a nice history piece.

A new system was installed during the renovation

This system was documented by enthusiasts before when the FCI system was still installed. Pictures were taken of the 7001Ts and WSTs. There was attempts to save the system but it didn’t work. The current system has been filmed twice. Once in the 2018 addition and the 2014 addition

The Sharver academy of arts was another school being Peter elementary school that was relocated. The building was built in the 1950s. Peter elementary closed after the 2004-05 school year after the new building was completed. The owners of the Art Museum wanted to start an Art School. This turned out be very successful. The school ended up being over crowded and what happened was that they expanded and renovated the building in 2017.

Walmart Supercenter (Triver location)

This Walmart was built in 1996 as a regular standard Walmart. This Walmart has a Autoshop that has been the same since 1996 a garden center and a in store McDonald’s that was replaced by a Taco Bell in 2019. This store got a massive renovation in 2015 with a major renovation and expansion.

As for the systems. It’s entirely different compared to the real life Walmarts. Since these Walmarts uses anything. It’s mostly Simplex and Notifier but Silent Knight, FireLite and EST have been found in a few stores.
