Name That Fire Alarm! (2.0)

That’s a real old Simplex chime. I can’t read the model number off the label because the flash photo caused it to not show up, but I did notice that that chime has a tube resonator on top, similar to a xylophone.

I do believe that is an Autocall horn.

I just don’t understand this setup

That’s a Simplex or IBM 4030.

These setups are common in rooms designed for hearing impaired residents. The SpectrAlert is for the building fire alarm system, the Gentex smoke w/strobe satisfies the requirement for a private residence 120VAC detector, and the mini horn/strobe may be for the doorbell.

Ahh, now it makes sense because I did notice the Edwards mini horn has no fire lettering!

Guess what this fire alarm is?

Model J-2006(LED) Chinese SpectrAlert knockoff.

Pass on the notification appliance, but the panel is a Siemens FireFinder XLSV with a live voice microphone and fire fighters telephone, sporting the new PMI-2 interface.

It’s either the -51 or the -57. The -51 is SPST and the -57 is DPST. You can’t tell the difference from the outside.

Fire alarm system at my moms work:

I recently got a chance to go inside my mom’s work today, as I was picking her up. She works in a Nursing home, built in the 70s I believe.

To recap, the first system they had in there was an Edwards 6500, with an Edwards 6700 Intercom panel right beside it. The fire bells were Edwards 10" and Edwards 6" single stroke bells, the pulls were a mix of 270-SPOs and 270-GAOs.

Then, roughly last year/2 years ago, the Edwards panel and most of the fire bells were replaced with Mircom 10" Bells, and a Mircom FlexNet panel.

I mentioned how I saw some cabinets being installed across the panel. Today I found out what they were for:

This was the newest system that was installed, a EST Vigilant panel. There were also EST Genesis speakers installed in some parts. What I found odd though, was that I also found this Mircom Series 1000 panel installed in another hallway. This section had bells instead, and the pulls weren’t 2 stage. It looks like another 6500 was installed there, so my assumption is that it’s just tied into the other panel (although I would’ve thought they would just have one panel to the entire building).

Nice conduit work! That doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb or anything…

Lol whoops, I never meant to post that in this topic! I was supposed to post this on the fire alarms in buildings topic, don’t know how I got those mixed up

& I know, I don’t know why they just didn’t install these where the original panels were.

Maybe they had to keep both systems functional during the replacement?

That could be it, since the last time I was there, they were installing the cabinets. I also wonder why they replaced a panel they just installed about 2 years ago.

I have a few questions of some alarms I found.
First Here is the link to my video.

I don’t know the alarms at:

0:15

0:18

0:45

1:28

2:17

2:38 (I think it’s a heat detector)

1:28 looks like a Notifier pull station. I’m not sure what model it is though.

2:17 is a Federal Signal 350 A1 (or a different brand’s model number for the device, such as Simplex 4040, Honeywell 305) with a flush mounting plate.

It is, I was there with him. Here’s some more pictures:
