Some Fire Alarm Pics (56k warning)

The Simplex Bells with the cursive are Simplex ST2 Bells or alike, I have a few of them, but I think they are a bigger size.

an Ademco Lynx wireless system. These are not that great since the keypad is basically the control panel, keypad and dialer for the system. Taking this out will disable the entire security system.

I’ve also seen TrueAlert horn/strobes before. They have them at a medical center near the Brockton Hospital (Simplex 4020 system), and they’re also at the Brockton Day Nursery (Simplex 4005 system, the TrueAlerts are installed on mounting plates replacing 4050-80s and 2903s). I have also seen them at several stores at the Silver City Galleria Mall (probably a Simplex 4100 system, the main parts of the mall have 2901-9838+9101 horn/strobes), and there are a LOT of them at Bridgewater State College (lots of Simplex systems here!)

The speaker/strobe version came out in 2002, a couple of years after the TrueAlert horn/strobes and remote strobes came out. They have these at the South Junior High School (Simplex 4100U voice-evac system) and Brockton Public Library (Simplex 4010 system with 4003 voice-evac). I’ve also seen a LOT of them at the South Shore Plaza mall (mostly in stores, but I saw one in the main mall area too, I’m pretty sure they have a Simplex 4120 or 4100U voice-evac system), and they also have them at the Kelly Gymnasium at Bridgewater State College (Simplex 4100U voice-evac system installed just last year) and North Station in Boston (I’m pretty sure they have a Simplex 4100U system as well).

I hardly see any Horn/Strobes in the city! It’s all bells, bells, BELLS!
And the fire alarm company that manufactures the system is Edwards. But, the old systems are starting to be replaced by Mircom systems, With FX-2000s and Select-A-Horn/Strobes.

Yes we know… Dan B among many others have stated that 100 times, there was a post about that entire system. And by the way did you have to re-post the photo???

Nice surface wiring job the installation guy did there NOT… Horrible system all around.

When I went to Canada this summer during my cruise, I saw a LOT of bell systems there, most of them Edwards/EST. And most of the pulls I saw were 270-SPOs or SIGA-270s (I saw plenty of bilingual versions, and I even saw one with the GE logo on the bottom!) A couple of the systems had Adaptabels installed behind grilles. The only Simplex system I saw was at a mall, they had 4099-9001 pulls, and I assume voice-evac over the PA system.

Well, Since I accidentaly deleted the other post which took me 2 HOURS :x  :x  , And I had every photo on that, I have to start over again. But, I am so mad right now, I will start again tomorrow. So stay tuned until tomorrow.

I’m guessing almost every school in my district has Truealerts so I see them quite often.

Well, I’ve calmed down about what happened, but here are the photos. There are 135 pics    , so you can see why I was mad. Lets start with the odd pictures.

From A restraunt. You Can See 2 Edward pulls, and 1 Edwards 4" bell.

Heres from a school in one of the split classroom, which is one classroom split into 3. It has 1 bell, and 2 Edwards Genisis.

If you see that little white box, I think thats the bell system.

This was at the church in the kitchen. The next set is from my grandpas apt.

Wheelock Strobe Under A EST pull in the hall.

A speaker, Which I think is part of the alarm system.

This is odd. A Wheelock EH, A Mircom Horn/Strobe or Strobe, and an Edwards 874-N5? Not to mention this is in the library!

A Simplex Life-Alarm speaker painted green.

At the other side of the library, An Edwards 874-N5 under some light.

A white Integreity on the old horns plate.

Well, thats all! It took me 2 1/2 hours, but I finished it! I hope you liked the pics!

I’m impressed.

That is either a 2901-9838 (Canadian model # 12901-9801) or -9846 (Don’t know Canadian model #)

Uh, those are all Wheelock ET speakers.

Like I said before the EH is actually an ET and that’s probably just a Mircom Select-A-Strobe next to it.

The “fire light” is actually an Edwards 802 remote strobe. It’s probably just worn out.

Those are actually System Sensor PA400R mini horns. They do a 4/6 or 5/6 coding.

That’s a Wheelock MT.

I imagine that with the newer-looking pulls and signals, the Wheelock MTs and those Simplex pulls were installed at the same time.

They have metal covers like those over the Simplex 4251-30 pulls at the Davis K-8 school and the Huntington Elementary School!

That might be a Simplex 4050 or 4051 horn. I think they may have been the original alarms from when the school was built.

We had those same bells at the Davis K-8 school, complete with the same grilles! And boy were they loud.

That’s a Simplex 2901-9845.

Those are on the outside of the Davis K-8 school too, but are older and the screw and label thing is in the center of the bell. They had these in the gym, too!

Those look like a rare version of the Atlas/Soundolier vandal-resistant speakers, aka Simplex 445-026’s. I don’t think I’ve seen ones like that before.

Ah! Interesting because I’m 90% sure that these are at UVa’s football stadium and under them are CP Remote Strobes.

Hey guys, Its been a while because my computer broke. I am currently in New Brunswick. We are here because we are visiting my dads friend. Its pretty neat here. Anyways, I have a lot of F.A. pics that I will put on soon once my computer is fixed. We had to drive through Quebec, So I have some interesting pics there, like a 27O-SPO entirley in french. Plus, Today we went to a St.Hubert, and when we left, The alarms went off! I got a video, though. The alarms were Simplex Truealerts, With simplex T bars. I dont know what the panel was or the smokes were. No one evacuated, so it was probably that birthday party they were having there. So, stay tuned for the pics and the video.

Hey everyone! Its great to be back! I was gone temporary because we had no internet. Anyways, I have A TON of new FA pics, And 6 videos. So stay tuned!

When I was going to my trip to New Brunswick, I saw a lot of bilingual devices. In Ontario, they have mostly engish on the fire alarms. Some of the big cities in ontario (Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa) have bilingual devices. In Quebec, the devices are all french! I remember seeing one Edwards 270-SPO that said " Tirez En Case Du Feu". I think thats what it said. In N.B., The alarms are bilingual, too

Heres some more pics! I lost my FA pics and some other pics from my trip to New Brunswick :x , But I still have some left. Anyhoo, Lets start at my trip to Port Elgin. My moms part of the CAW (UAW in USA), And they have a learning centre there, which is kinda like a mini campus. They have a classroom building, A Recreation building, Rooms for the members to stay in, and for the important members (President), they have a nice 2 story building near the beach. Well, Last time I was there they had an edwards system with 4, 6 and 10" adaptabels with an assortment of panels. When I came back I saw THIS:

An Edwards 2280,

Edwards 6616s,

Edwards annunciator panels,

And this panel gutted out! And thats not all I found! Near our room I found THIS:

One HUGE Siemens MXL! Everything got replaced with this! This thing was taller than me! This thing is pretty cool. I noticed that you can disable or enable the devices in different locations of this place. I just wondered why they didn’t put it at the welcome centre instead of there. And what were all the new NAs?

Mircom Select a Horn Or Horn/Strobes. This one was in my room. The ones in the room are white
without strobes, while the others are red.

This was the fire instructions

One of the sprinklers.

A smoke detector.

The pulls were these. I don’t know what the pull # is, but I know its made by Siemens.

One with the strobe.

These ones were in the gym. One with a protective cover, One without.

A horn/strobe under a gutted 6616.

One of the horns in the hallway that replaced a 10" adaptabel.

One horn/strobe mounted on the ceiling.

A smoke alarm outside.

This Horn replaced most likley a flush mount Adaptahorn.

A sprinkler bell right outside my room.

Another sprinkler bell.

Sprinkler room across my room.

I don’t know what these 2 things are. The Next set is from my cousins apartment.

This was beside it. A mircom annunciator panel.

Mircom 10" bell.

A pull beside the bell.

A Mircom pull.

A bent heat detector.

A bell without a label.

Mircom 6" bell.

Mircom 10" bell.

Fire Extinguisher with a break glass thing.

Another bell under a pull. Heres a few more from my school.

An old 270-SPO.

The Annunciator panel in front. This must be a custom made one.

Another 270-SPO.

One bell under a pull.

In the English portable, beside every classroom on the right there’s a 270-SPO.

The fire alarms in the portable are Edwards 10" adaptabels. The religion portable has 2 6" Mircom bells.

A smoke detector. I am not good with smoke detector models.

A newer 270-SPO.

An Edwards 10" bell right beside one of the old class change bells, and that in particular is a 4" IBM bell.

In the top left corner you can see a 6" adaptabel. The next set are from my dads old high school, where I first witnessed a false alarm.

The signals are Edwards Integrietys. They do Code 3. I doubt they had these when my dad went there.

One of the horns were replaced with a white one.

The pulls are 270-SPOs.

An EST annunciator.

The smoke detectors and sprinklers. Now some odds and ends.

What an odd thing to find a wal mart.

A white edwards genisis outside at an elementary school.

And across from the school, there is a high school with this. I think thats a speaker on top, followed by a mircom 10" bell, and an Edwards 892 fire light.

An Edwards 4" bell at a store in New Brunswick.

An Edwards 6" bell at a Dollerama.

An Edwards 6500 at my grandpas apartment. Last time I was here the panel wasn’t on…

An annunciator panel at a local movie theatres. One light is lit on “SUPERVISORY” and another one is lit on “FIRST STAGE”.

A bilinguial 270-SPO.

A Mircom select a horn at my local Shoppers drug mart.

From my old ES, A mircom select a horn/strobe beside a 10" adaptabel used for class change. I had to deal with this EVERY DAY last year.

A sprinkler bell mounted at street level in New Brunswick. I will post the rest tomorrow.

The device to the rear is an antenna. Usually associated with cellular or two way radio repeating devices. They take the signal outside and amplify it allowing coverage inside. If you see them in large buildings like towers they are usually associated with the fire departments radio system, in this case however one could only guess without seeing the control unit. The device to the front appears to be a heat detector judging by the underside of the unit but I can not say for sure.

I was surprised to see that Wormald sprinkler bell. Wormald is a British/Australian sprinkler co. that isn’t usually associated with North America.
