That’s actually a Faraday/Siemens FireSmart smoke detector with a built-in heat sensor. They have those in the Liberal Arts and Humanities buildings at my college, which has a Faraday MPC-7000 system, and thus these are the only compatible smokes with that system (usually they just install System Sensor i3s.)
More FA pics!
Lets start at the hotel that we stayed in, with the smokes. I don’t know any of the model #s.
Notice how they use smoke alarms instead of smoke detectors. Next, the alarms. I think the original signals were durabels, but as you’re about to see, most of them have been replaced. The bells are most likley vibrating.
-Mircom 6" bell.
-Newer 4" Adaptabel.
-6" Durabel missing its label.
-6" Simplex bell.
-Durabel.
-Durabel with different label.
-Notifier 6" bell.
-Simplex 6" bell.
Next, Pulls. The original pulls were 270-SPOs most likley.
-Simplex pull.
-Newer 270-SPO.
-Older 270-SPO missing its break bar, and also covered in ink or something at the bottom :?
-Another 270-SPO.
-270-SPO missing a pre alarm switch.
The next set is at the school. I’m guessing the original system was wheelock 7001s or im guessing, and older Edwards 270-SPO pulls. These pics are at random.
-Simplex T-Bar.
-Some simplex horn, dont know model #.
-The original alarms, which appears to be wheelock 7001s behindred grilles.

-Another closeup of another wheelock 7001.
-Security Keypad
-Speaker in washroom.

-Not FA related, but would anyone know what this is? I found it outside their tech wing.
-Simolex horn.
-Another simplex t-bar.
-One wheelock 7001…
-And the other 7001.
-The integriety on the backbox.
-270-SPO. Look how low its mounted. This is waist height to me.
-270-SPOs, One newer, second older, third newer, forth really old.
-The panel, an EST 2.
-Another simplex horn.
Thats all the pics. Believe it or not, I have more! But, I’ll post those later.
That’s probably the end-of-line resistor for a NAC booster circuit.
Actually, those are Wheelock 34’s. The 7001 is the flush-mount model with strobe.
That would be a 2901-9838.
the big tan thing outside of the tech wing is a dust collector
Got some more pics! Since I don’t want to post them all in one post, This will be part 1 of my FA photos. Also, I’ve resized them so that they’re bigger.
- This pic was taken at my local mall, which probably has a huge Edwards 6500 in a mechanical Rm. This is one of the signals, A 6" Adaptabel. The next were taken at one of my sister bball tournaments.
-An Edwards 270-SPO that looks like it was painted, because this one has no white stripes.
-A double sided speaker in the hall.
-A notifier 6" bell.
-Fire Hose.
-Edwards 4" adaptabel with some wire sticking out.
-Another “Painted” 270-SPO.

-Edwards 270-SPO.
-An edwards 6" adaptabel outside the elementary school.
-As I was looking around the school, I turned around the corner and found this stop sign in front of one of the schools exits.

-What I’m guessing is a goldish 10" Simplex bell.
-An Edwards 270-SP0.
-An Edwards 4" Adaptabel with some exposed wires.
-Notifier 6" bell.
-Mircom Pull. The next set is my dads old high school.
-A cool Fire extinguisher cover.
-Edwards Integriety. They do code 3, I know because this is the place where I first heard integrieties go off.
-Edwards 270-SPO, This was taken in the older section.
-Edwards 270-SPO
-An EST smoke detector.
-Some Integrities in the buildings are white instead of red.
-An Integriety and a pull station right near it.
-An EST annunciator. The panel is most likley an EST 2 or 3.
-The 270-SPO right beside it.
-Edwards Integriety in the change room.
-2 sprinklers in the changeroom. The next set is a small one from a school I had already tooks pics at before.
-A speaker outside.
-Closeup of A sprinkler.
-Another speaker.
-Fire alarm Instructions.
-Wheelock MT.
-This was taken at my friends house. Her dad has this old fire extinguisher, Which I think it says “Pyrene”.
That’s the end of the first set. The next set will be in the next post.
Set #2. The first set of pics were taken at a former catholic school. The school is right beside St. Peters bascillica in my city, and the schools name is St. Peters. I’m guessing by the age of the school, nuns used to teach here.
-An Edwards 270-SPO.
-The Fire alarm and school bells. I like the fire alarms, Because that’s exactly what I have hanging on my wall:
-An Edwards 6" adaptabel.
-A really old 6" Adaptabel. I wasn’t able to take a pic of a fire alarm that was just a red gong on a school bell.
-An old sprinkler bell outside.
-Security Keypad.
-Edwards 270-SPO.
-If you cant see it, Its a white 10" bell. The next set were at another bball tourney I went to.
-The alarms are Wheelock NSs. First time I’ve seen them in person.
-Cool place to put a fire extinguisher. Thats all I have for the first school.
-This was in the other school in the washroom. A fire exit, I’m guessing, and right above the bathroom exit:
-An edwards 874! I wonder why they would put this in a washroom…
-Smoke detector.
-What I’m guessing an Edwards graphic annunciator.
-Edwards 874.
-Edwards 270-SPO with a stopper cover.
-An Edwards 874 that got replaced by an MT.
-Edwards 874.
-Another 270-SPO with a stopper cover.
-An Edwards 874 that got taped back on???
-This horn has an “X” marked on it, Which I’m guessing means it doesn’t work.
-An 874 that doesn’t have an “X” on it.
-I circled the 3 horns in the hall. There’s the working one, The most likley broken one, and the taped one.
-The last horn in the hall is the wheelock MT.
-An Edwards horn, forget model #.
-Edwards 6" adaptabel in one of the schools tech shops.
-Either an Edwards horn, or a wheelock MT.
-Edwards 270-SPO.
-Another edwards horn. The next was taken at a hotel.

-Smoke detector.
-Mircom Pull.
-Mircom Select a horn beside one of those devices.
-Another Mircom select a horn.
-Smoke detector.
-Another smoke.
-Mircom Mini-Horn.
This is the end of set #2.
Set #3. Hopefully the last set.The first two I forgot to add in the last set.
-Wheelock horn, forget model #. The next set is a few more from my school.
-Edwards 10" adaptabel in the staircase behind our stage.
-And a 270-SPO at the exit.
-An newer 270-SPO that is in my music room.
-This bell is under the pull, and is also in my music Rm. Next is another school I went to recently.
-An Annunciator panel, Made by what I guess notifier.
-The pulls, Notifier BG-10s of 12s, first time I’ve seen them. I could also tell This is an addressable system, because there was a green light blinking in the pull.
-The alarms, System Sensor Spectralerts. This is the horn only version.
-A smoke detector, made by most likley system sensor.
-Me trying to take a pic of the light in the pull.
-Spectralert Horn and BG 10/12.
-Graphic annunciator.
-Another spectralert.
-Another smoke.
-Fire alarm instructions.
-What I found in the gym. This gym can be split, but why put the pulls so close to each other? I also noticed the lights in the pulls sync with each other. The next set is at a local high school.
-Im guessing a system sensor “doorknob” detector.
-The alarms, Some unknown bells (I’m guessing notifier) behind a silver grille with a strobe in front of it.
-The strobe, don’t know which FA company made it.
-A colseup of the bell.
-Another bell with a wheelock LSM strobe.
-One of the pulls, a mircom one.
-An annunciator panel.
-Graphic annunciator.
-An old Edwards 270-SPO
-Notifier pull.
-Tried to take a pic of the label of one bell.
-Newer edwards 270-SPO.
-Another notifier pull.
-Whats cool is that they use these simplex speakers for the PA system! Then, I noticed another school nearby, or what bI thought was a school. To this day I am still trying to find out what this place is used for.
-A key operated pull! I don’t know what company made this.
-Can’t tell what horn/Speaker that is.
-The pull above, Its made by Edwards! I have never came across this type of edwards pull before!
-If you can see, there’s a red light up there. Now back on to the school.
-Another simplex speaker.
-Another annunciator and graphic annunciator.
-A sensor that’s missing its cover. And then we go back to the school with the spectralerts.
-In the gym, they have at least 8 of these. The next set is at a hospital where my grandma had to stay for her knee surgery.
A “panic” alarm thing, made by system sensor.
-A smoke? I can’t really see what that is.
-A simplex pull.
-The alarms, Which I’m guessing is a voice evac system. A smoke beside the speaker.
-A newer simplex T-Bar.
-A heat detector in the washroom.
-What I’m guesing is a disconnected 10" bell behind a grille. I’ve seen grilles all around the older parts of the hospital, and this one was the only one with a bell in it.
-Another simplex pull.
-??? I have no idea whats behind this grille.
-Another simplex pull.
-More of the “panic” alarm system.
-Urgent pull cord station.
-The panel in the parking garage, a simplex 4602? The next few were taken at my moms work, where they had a FA upgrade.
-System sensor “Doorknob” smoke.
-Johnston controls pulls behind stopper covers.
-Speaker.
-These simplex keypads which are EVERYWHERE! The final set was at a local indoor pool/school. I accidently deleted the pull pic, but the pulls are simplex T-Bars.
-Speaker.
-What i’m guessing a waterproof MT. One in the pool area got replaced with a horizontal strobe version MT.
-Simplex smoke.
-Tried to get a closer pic, but it is a simplex silver flush mount 4602 panel, I’m guessing.
Thats all the pics! I might want to make them small again (next time I post pics), I’ve been trying to find a perfect size for my photos.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
That is odd. If the gym be split with a movable wall it doesn’t even look like there is enough room for the wall to fit between the pulls. Maybe there was without the Stoppers but it sure looks close.
Thats neat. But being that close to a locker makes it easy for a kid to steel it or put it in his locker, and if it was missing it may not be noticed since it is not visible. It would be good if there was an alarm that sounds if the door is opened (and can’t be reset just by closing it),
That fire extinguisher locker is really unique. I’ve never seen anything like that before.
Some more pics from my school. Sorry if some of the pics are sideways, these were taken from my cellphone.
-Edwards 270-SPO. This is the only pull station in the school thats not being watched by a surveillence camera.
-In the tech wing, a security siren and an Edwards 4" bell.
-Security Siren.
-Edwards 4" bell.
-Smoke detector.
-A hallway leading from the tech wing to the cafeteria. There is only one bell in this hall and it is at the end; a 10" Edwards Adaptabel.
-This is the 10" Adaptabel right under my locker.
-This bell seems to be coming off the wall a little bit…
-An Edwards 270-SPO.
-Not FA related, but this is where they (the staff) said they saw a black figure going down the stairs, which was caught by this camera:
This is at the top of the stairs, the so called “4th Floor”, which is just an Elevator shaft room and a door leading to the roof:
Thats all for now. I have a couple more pics that I will put on later.
More pics, The last ones for a little bit.
First, the pics from one of my sisters B-ball tournament.
-Simplex smoke.
-Another Simplex smoke.
-Simplex T-Bar.
-Simplex -9838? (The canadian model)
-Simplex T-Bar.
-Simplex smoke.
-An unknown bell in the gym, mounted way up at the high beams.
-Simplex -9838 mounted on the ceiling.
-Simplex smoke.
-Simplex 4602 panel, with some homemade hard plastic cover.
-A security siren, and idk what that thing under the siren is.
-Simplex T-Bar.
-Two speakers right near each other, I found that wierd.
-Simplex smoke and a Simplex -9838.
-Simplex T-Bar. The next pics were taken at a college in the same town. This has a pretty interesting system in it.
-Edwards 270-SPO.
-FA speaker.
-A yellow pull, Which is used for emergencies only.
-Another FA speaker, beside what I think is an SAE Light plate. I forget the model # for it, and i’m not sure if there is a horn behind it. This was the only one sitting there, and this was the first time I’ve ever seen one.
-Edwards 270-SPO.
-What appears to be an unknown bell behind a grille. Probably part of the old FA system. Can anyone read the label, I couldn’t make it out.
-A white Wheelock ET speaker.
-A hallway with 3 FA speakers.
-Another FA speaker And A Wheelock MT. The next pics were taken at my sister’s final B-ball tourney. The first three pics were taken at the hotel we were at. I already took pics of this place before.
-An Edwards heat detector.
-Mircom mini-horn.
-Smoke alarm. The next were taken at one of the schools we went to.
-Edwards Integriety.
-Smoke detector.
-Edwards 270-SPO behind a stopper.
-Edwards Integriety. BTW, It looks like these replaced some type of flush mount horns, a Simplex 4040 maybe?
-Smoke detector.
-A plate, probably covering where an older horn was.
-An Edwards 270-SPO under an Integriety.
-This one was taken at a mall I went to, It might not be clear, but its an Edwards 10" bell beside an Edwards Adaptahorn. The final set was taken at the other school.
-Wheelock NS.
-Simplex Break Glass T-Bars (Forget model #)! This is the first time I’ve actually seen them. The wierd thing is that they all seem to be missing the glass, Not just one, I mean all the ones are missing them.
-Smoke detector.
-The panel, a silver flush-mount Simplex 4602.
-Does anyone know what this is? I’m guessing it’s a siren, but I’m not sure.
-A Wheelock NS in the washroom.
-
That bell looks to be an IBM (or rebranded version) 6" bell.
-
The 4602 isn’t a panel - it’s an annunciator. Also, the first one with the LCD display and “homemade” guard is a 4603-9101 anunciator that has been retrofitted into an existing 4602 annunciator.
As for the annunciator thing, it is likely that school has a Simplex 4100 system, judging by the smoke and heat detectors, which are addressable. The pulls are Simplex 2099-9795s.
Wow, I always thought it was a panel because of the size of it.
I got some more FA pics. The first set was taken at 2 elementary schools in a town near my city.
-Edwards Annunciator
-Edwards 6" Adaptabel and Edwards Adaptahorn. These two NAs were in the main entranceway, which is pretty small, And I wouldn’t want to be in there when any of those go off.
-At the other school, A Cereberus Pyrotronics panel and an Edwards 270-SPO.
-A Mircom Pull.
The next set was taken in Montreal, Quebec, where I went for my vacation recently. Most FAs in Montreal are billingual, but some are just in french.
-In a parking garage, an Edwards Genisis and a 6" bell of some sort.
-Under it, an Edwards 270-SPO in french.
-On to the hotel I stayed at, An Edwards smoke.
-An Edwards 270-SPO in both french + english.
-An Edwards remote strobe in the hallway which is also in french + english.
-While the FAs are in french and English, The exit signs are just in french.
-A sprinkler im guessing.
-A smoke detector in the hotel room.
-A Speaker in the hotel room, which gets me to believe its a voice evac. System. I saw the panel, but it was behind the front desk, and I didn’t see any label on it. The next set was taken in a mausoleum in a cemetery we visited.
-The panel, the security keypad, and an Edwards pull.
-A smoke detector.
-An Edwards pull.
-A ceiling mount Integriety. The next pics were taken at the Bell Center.
-Cerberus Pyrotronics pulls.
-Wheelock EH speaker.
-A Wheelock 10” bell beside a 6” bell.
-Another Wheelock EH
That thing you mentioned may be a sprinkler, it is. It’s a Viking flush style sprinkler, probably from the late '60s or early '70s.
Ok, so I have some more FA pics, but not alot. This will be like the 4th time I’ve written this because my keyboard has this key that sends you to your homepage and I keep clicking it because it’s right beside the shift button. Anyhoo, I’ll start with the small sets first.
-This was taken at a building where they hold our citys annual fair. I can’t believe they would tape a pull like that, it’s just hanging there. I carefully tried to take off one piece of the tape to see if it was holding the handle up, and it was. So I wonder if the toggle switch is messed or something.
-These pics were taken at the school I went for summer school. The fire alarms are Simplex 2901-2703 (I think, I’m not sure), and I don’t know the pull model #s. Here’s a video of the bells going off, which I took when we were having a fire drill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vwm8BqYelSA
-A Mircom 10" bell at some school. The last set was taken at a really old elementary school. It dates back to 1901.
-The FAs at the school, Mircom Select-A-Horn/Strobes. This school used to have Edwards 10” Adaptabels, until they replaced them with these.
-The School bells, Edwards 6” Adaptabels. These ones are really old, and really loud. I have been to this school when I was younger because my sister had a basketball camp here, and my mom and dad would take me. Back then, I was afraid of these bells (not anymore though), and I remember walking down that hallway, and the bells went off for a good 6-7 seconds, and since that school is old, the halls echoed a lot. The reason they went off was because they had the bell system on to test it.
-The fire alarm pulls (which they didn’t replace during the renovation) are Edwards 270-SPOs. I saw a couple of Mircom pulls that replaced older Edwards pulls.
-An Edwards 6” Adaptabel beside a Mircom Select-A-Horn/Strobe.
-A Mircom Select-A-Horn/Strobe, and if you look in the top right corner, you will see an Edwards 6” Bell. One thing I wonder is why they would put a bell in there? It looks like theres another hallway but it’s a small space right near those kindergarten classes. Here’s a diagram:
-The last pic, which was taken at the front of the school. I guess the staff in the office got fed up with this bell and now it ended up like that.
