What a difference! We go from a blizzard earlier in the week to temps reaching over 50 this weekend. That’s New England for ya!
We got a sizeable amount of snow Thursday afternoon/night. Then on Friday, the temps were super low so none of it melted, and right now it’s only around 5 degrees F., so I guess we’ll have to see if any of the snow melts today! (The high today is only supposed to be 19 degrees F., so I kinda doubt any major meltage will happen.)
I should have also mentioned that some guy made a video of a 20-car pile-up in progress in this very slippery hill. It was pretty funny to see these big pick-up trucks trying to make their way up the hill, only to slide down and hit the cars that have already crashed. (For those of you wondering, I doubt anybody was really hurt; it just looked like a bunch of little “fender-benders.”)
Wow! Last look at the thermometer showed 56’. That is an incredible difference from the natsy blizzard less than a week ago.
The temprature around southern Texas is still about 70 degrese, we had 50 degree weather for about 4 days, but its back up to normal, by now I dont expect it to get cold for any amount of time.
More snow outside! We’ve gotten about 4" so far and we’re not done yet…
Once again we get the shaft…we’re only gonna get about 2 inches.
The NWS is predicting a 60% chance of snow for our area today, tapering off to around 30% tonight. Hopefully, according to the NWS, we could get peak-a-boo’s of the sunshine during the day tomorrow, although a small chance of flurries are also taking the stage. After a brief period of no snow, but very cold temperatures throughout the week (factor in the wind chill, and it doesn’t become much better), snowfall will be rearing in its head once again…
7"!
We got a dusting…
It snowed a lot yesterday and last night, but now it’s clear but still cold. They even canceled school for the first time this school year, which is a rarity where I live; usually we get our first snow day in October…
Another coastal storm coming in for Wednesday. Storm watches and advisories have already been issued, although none in this area (yet…).
I hope this storm gives us more storm than the last few… so far we have been placed into the jackpot zone. Possibly 12"+
A major snow system approaching the Chicago area will be knocking onto our door tomorrow afternoon; the NWS is predicting about 2 to 3 inches of snow for us.
lol, who do you think you are, a southerner? 2 or 3 inches ain’t much.
Right now we’re expecting a 5"-9" snowfall, but that may change as the cutoff zone between moderate and major snowfall is just a few miles to our south. ANY subtle change in the storm’s path will shift the amounts. As you can expect, it does look like western/central New England is supposed to get the brunt of the storm. We’ll know a bit more in terms of amounts when the new data comes in later this evening.
This evening, much to my surprise, it started snowing again! I don’t know if it still is, but that was unexpected!
… and we’ve been upped to 8"-12"! Still plenty early and things may change between now and then…
I’m still hearing between 12"-18", but recent reports have suggested that these amounts could turn out to be very conservative.
Recent data looks like the snowfall amounts will be a bit lower than expected, but the news stations haven’t made any changes to their predictions. My 1/2 of the county is under a Winter Storm Warning, but a few miles north of me there’s a Winter Weather Advisory.
We’ll all see how this’ll play out in a few hours…
